How this class tier list is built

Each spec starts from SimulationCraft's bundled standard profile for patch 12.0.5.67823, same class, talents, and item level across the board. We then equip the spec's best-in-slot trinket (the rank-1 pick from our weekly trinket sweep) and rank on that geared number, so the only variables are the spec and its single biggest gear lever.

Single-target uses the Patchwerk fight style (one target, full uptime); cleave adds a sustained add cluster. Each spec's tier (S/A/B/C/D) is its geared DPS as a percentage of the top spec, and specs are grouped by class so you can see at a glance how your class stacks up. Boards refresh weekly after each SimC build bump.

Only the trinket slot is optimized, this is a comparable ceiling, not a full best-in-slot build. A sim is a model, not the game. Sim your own character for a real answer.
