What this is

Every trinket in the current loot pool, simmed against the canonical SimulationCraft profile for the spec, ranked by DPS gain over a no-trinket baseline. The numbers are means of 50,000 iterations, which is enough to drive the standard deviation on the DPS mean below 0.5%, so the ordering is stable.

DPS delta over baseline is the trinket's contribution alone, holding everything else fixed. Cleave runs three targets for five minutes; Patchwerk is single-target. Tier set bonuses, hero talent variance, and gear interactions outside the trinket slot are not modelled here. For your specific build, run a full sim from your /simc string.

Refreshed every Sunday after the SimulationCraft weekly bump.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are these trinket rankings?

Each ranking is the mean of 50,000 SimulationCraft iterations on the canonical baseline profile for that spec. Standard deviation on the DPS mean lands well under 0.5%, so the ordering is reliable. Numbers are stat-priority averages, not your specific build.

What gear is the baseline?

The SimulationCraft default profile for the spec at current-season ilvl, with all slots filled except the trinket slot. Talent build, gems, enchants, and consumables track SimC head week-to-week.

Why doesn't my favourite trinket appear?

We only rank current-season trinkets. Items from previous expansions, dungeons that fell out of the Mythic+ rotation, or unobtainable raid drops are excluded so the page reflects what's actually loot-relevant.

Cleave or Patchwerk, which should I look at?

Cleave models a typical raid encounter with three targets. Patchwerk is single-target only. Pick Cleave if you raid or push keys with consistent adds, Patchwerk if you're optimising for a tank-and-spank fight or a target dummy parse.

How often is the leaderboard updated?

Every Sunday, after the weekly SimC build refresh. The pinned SimC SHA on each spec page is the authoritative patch reference.

Why isn't my spec listed?

All 40 retail DPS, tank, and dedicated DPS specs are listed. Augmentation Evoker and pure-healing specs are present where the SimC profile supports it; a few healer profiles still have gaps in the upstream catalog and may show a refreshing panel until the next pipeline run resolves them.

Can I sim my own character?

Yes. Paste your /simc string on the homepage and you'll get a DPS number plus a ranked list of upgrades from the items in your bags, factoring your specific talents, tier set, and trinket pairings.

Methodology

Baseline profile

SimulationCraft default profile per spec, current-season ilvl, empty trinket slot. Talent build, gems, enchants, and consumables track SimC head.

Iteration count

50,000 iterations per trinket. Standard deviation on the DPS mean stays well under 0.5%.

Cleave

Three-target uniform cleave, 5 minutes, fixed pull timing. Approximates a typical raid encounter with consistent adds.

Patchwerk

Single boss, 5 minutes, no movement, no adds. The pure DPS ceiling for raw rotation throughput.

Not included

Tier set bonuses, hero talent variance beyond the SimC default, encounter scripting, and gear interactions outside the trinket slot. For your build, paste your /simc string and run a full sim.

Sim your own character

The leaderboards average across a stat-priority profile. For the actual ranking on your gear, talents, and tier pieces, paste your /simc string on the homepage.
