WoW Forever Mage
Mage changed the least of any class in the demo build: six new talents and one removed. The class was already the most complete of the Classic casters, so the changes add options rather than fix gaps.

Mage for Forever: Quick Sim live in beta
MythicSim is integrating the open-source wowsims engine, via its community Forever fork, as a second backend. The engine is theirs; MythicSim adds the hosting and the one-click front end. Quick Sim ships first, checked against live beta data from 17 September 2026. Stat priorities, trinket boards and a droptimizer follow once beta gear and loot tables exist. Retail Midnight sims are unaffected.
What changes for Mage
Each tree gains a signature later-expansion spell, while the three capstones (Arcane Power, Combustion, Ice Barrier) stay where Classic left them. Arcane Blast raises the damage of all your other spells by 10% per cast with an escalating mana cost. Hot Streak is a talent: non-periodic crits with Fireball, Frostfire Bolt, Fire Blast and Scorch grant a stack that cuts Pyroblast cast time by 25%, up to three stacks. Ice Lance is an instant that deals 300% more damage to Frozen targets, so Frostbite and Frost Nova shatters finally have a payoff spell.
Orc Mages are new to the Horde and the Skyborne can be Mages on the Alliance. Combined with the unified hit stat, race choice for a raiding Mage is a sim question for the first time.

Races
Human, Gnome, Orc, Undead, Troll, Skyborne (Alliance). Orc Mage is new to Forever. The Skyborne can be Mages on the Alliance side. Racials are rebuilt so no two races share a passive and weapon skill racials are gone, which is why race is a real sim input in Forever.
What the Mage sim has to model
Beyond the engine-wide changes (unified hit and crit, Expertise, bonus healing as spell damage, periodic crits), these are the Mage-specific pieces the Forever engine needs before a stat weight for this class means anything.
- Arcane Blast stacking and its mana ramp for Arcane.
- Hot Streak proc tracking for Fire, and Ice Lance shatter windows for Frost.
- Unified spell hit and crit, which changes the hit cap conversation against a level 63 boss.

One board per spec, ranked on the Forever engine once beta data lands. Each page already lists every trinket a Mage can equip at 60 and where it drops.

Is there a WoW Forever Mage sim?
A beta one, at /wow-forever/sim. MythicSim runs the open-source wowsims Forever engine (a community fork of wowsims/classic, not a MythicSim engine) as a second backend, with Mage on its new talent trees. Paste your WoWSims Exporter text and get a DPS number. Talent values are being checked against beta data from 17 September 2026; launch is 4 November 2026.

Which races can be a Mage in WoW Forever?
Mage can be played by Human, Gnome, Orc, Undead, Troll, Skyborne (Alliance) in World of Warcraft: Forever. Orc Mage is new in Forever. The new Skyborne race can be a Mage on the Alliance side only.
What are the Mage specs in WoW Forever?
Arcane (DPS), Fire (DPS), Frost (DPS). Forever keeps the three Classic trees for every class and reworks their contents; there are no new specs.
Do I need a /simc string to sim a Forever Mage?
No. The SimulationCraft addon is retail-only. Forever sims will use a Classic-style character export addon that MythicSim ships with the sim. Until it is live, this page is reference material for the class changes.
